letter from Dunieski Lora, Cuba
Hola Luisa
Dunieski Lora

Festival del Caribe July 3rd. 2011, Santiago de Cuba.
My 6 Orisha Sculptures stood in a semicircle on the huge stage of Heredia Theatre, in front of big triangles, and at the opening of the spectacle, the orisha dancers jumped out from behind each sculpture: After years of working on the sculptures, I could not have imagined anything so fantastic than seeing the sculptures in such a beautifully lit and lively setting. They are going to be on display this summer at the entrance of the Government Palace at Parque Cespedes. I got applause, from the 3000 and more strong audience, after the director of the Casa del Caribe Señor Vergés mentioned that I had donated the Orisha sculptures to the Casa del Caribeñ and everyone in Cuba knows who each one represents, in these photos they are waiting to go.

My Orisha sculptures will be on the stage of the opening of the Festival del Caribe in Santiago de Cuba on the 3rd of July. All the translations into Spanish for catalogues and letters are done by Ayana Jack , Ayanajack@yahoo.com in her elegant Spanish.
My life long collegue Dieter Finke died of lung cancer in Berlin on the 9th of May 2011. He left an anormous amout of paintings and animal sculpture.

The four images above are of waxes for bronze casting, prepared during my March 2011 visit to Cuba and currently being cast in Cuba.
My sister, Ilse, was here in Tobago for 3 wonderful weeks.
